| Damn subharness. :-/ When I put everything in there after the last rebuild I was hooking up the EFI harness, the detonation sensor subharness decided it wanted to come loose at the sensor. :-/ grrrrrrr. I have no idea why it didn't stay - I suspect it didn't get plugged all the way in because the little metal clip was still on the connector like it is supposed to be. ? The next time I drop the trans I will correct this problem, but I'm not dropping it just to put that thing in. I eliminated the EGR so I can get my hands back in there to put the connector on. Fact is, the detonation sensing hardware is quite lackluster. If you use premium fuel, listen to the engine when you are boosting, and never let anyone borrow your car (for fear they may put shit gas in it), there really isn't any reason you should have a problem. I would count more on yourself to use good fuel, good judgement (on boost levels) and keep a good ear out than I would on the detonation sensing circuit. I've datalogged the ignition timing before in the past to watch what happens when I *make* it detonate. Fact is, its not terribly good at detecting knock. Our system isn't discrete - the sensor picks up all engine noise and not just the sound of detonation. :-/
